Two Tone Hearts and a House

Oooo what a busy month July has turned out to be. My boyfriend and I bought a house! It is our first home and we are beyond excited. I had no idea how involved and confusing housing buying was. So between all the craziness this blog has taken a backseat, again. *sad face* We are three weeks away from moving in, and already have our apartment half way packed. So I promise to do my best in painting my nails and keeping everyone updated about the house.

Now, to the nails. My nails have actually been unpainted for the last three days. It feels good to finally make them pretty again. However, I was lacking a little inspiration so I copycat-ed my nail design from Polish You Pretty.

Fun and easy, with a little vintage feel. I love it!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July to everyone! I have a fun American flag nail design to share with you.

I thought this design would be easy, but the red and white stripes gave me some trouble and they aren't as straight as I had hoped. Maybe it's a waving American flag? ;)

I'm gonna leave you with this awesome +Pepsi display I saw at the store. Nothing says America better than an awesome Pepsi product display!

Have a fun and safe 4th everyone!

A Flower Kind of Day

Hello all! I've been so in love with doing flower nail art lately. I think its the hot weather, it's been in the 100's here, and the overall happy thoughts summer brings. So here is a cute flower manicure I wore over the weekend.

Taa-da! Happy flowers and tiny polka dots. I got lots of compliments on this manicure, which always makes me feel great. I also switched up the polka dots with smaller ones, I usually do bigger dots, and I really like the outcome.

Graceful Blue Bird Nail Art Decoration

Today I have a manicure to share with you inspired by the pretty blue bird nail art decoration sent to me by KKCenterHK. I'm also going to lump this manicure in with the untried challenge I'm slowly tackling.

Here are the pretty nail art decorations I chose to review. I love them. The detail is perfect and are exactly like they are pictured on the website.

Taking the nail art out of the package and observing the white paper backing, I thought these decorations might be self adhesive. Scratching a little at the back I pulled off some of the bird pattern of one, and quickly discovered they are not self adhesive. Luckily the small scratch was hidden by my white base polish.

I knew right away I wanted to use this nail decoration for my accent nail. I looked over my blues and thought the gorgeous Cerulean by LVX would be a perfect pairing! Cerulean just happened to be an untried, and qualified as a "cool" color, which made this manicure a double win for me. To jazz it up a little I used stripping tape along with my go to Snow Me White from Sinful Colors to do stripes with Cerulean. I really like the way this came out.

From above I LOVE the nail art decoration. But from the side, this manicure makes me sad. Its such a huge oval bubble on my nail that I played with it constantly, until I just popped it off. As pretty as these oval nail decorations are, for me they are just too big to be used in my nail art. However, I plan on keeping these adorable nail decorations and applying them to something else. (I'm just not sure what)

What do you think of this manicure? Do you think these blue bird nail decorations are too big? Is there such a thing as too big when it comes to nail art? Do you own any LVX polishes?

Circle Glitter from KKCenterHK

A few weeks back I was very excited to receive an email from KKCenterHK. They asked if I would be interested in reviewing some of their products. I of course said yes and could not wait for the items to arrive to do my first real review.

I picked KKCenterHK's pretty sky blue circle glitter. This glitter is made of plastic and is cut into 2.55mm circles. The light blue colors is vibrant and reflects light beautifully. The jar holds hundreds of these beautiful circle glitters pieces.

kkcenterhk.com

Of course I wanted to use my new glitter on my nails so this is the nail design I came up with.

Starting with white nail polish I then added the circle glitter to my nails in a simple polka dot pattern. Then painted pretty blue flowers as accents to the the circle glitter.

The glitter from KKCenterHK is vibrant, easy to use and exactly what was pictured on their website. KKCenterHK is overseas but was able to ship the items quickly. The glitter was well packaged, so it arrived safely. The only thing I would change about this glitter is that I wish it was a little smaller. My nails are on the smaller side and I think with smaller glitter I would be able to do a more detailed designs with the circle glitter. Any girl with wider or longer nails should have no problem with this size of this glitter.

Untried Polish Challenge

A while back I stumbled upon a neat polish challenge while day dreaming on Pinterest. I quickly pinned it knowing it would be the perfect thing to kick start me into using the many untried polishes in my stash. I present to you the Untried Polish Challenge from Jonochi at Just Add Polish.

justaddpolish.com

I started with "Three Colors". Not sure why I picked to do that one first but these are the three untried colors I used.

Big Yellow Taxi by Ciaté is from their Advent Calendar that I ordered in November of 2012. Spring from Too Cute-icle was a polish I won from a banner contest that the creator, Jess, held on her Facebook page. And In Bloom from Color Club is a lucky find from Ross. The white isn't an untried, but is Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

Three untried polishes used and an adorable design to show them off. I'm so glad I found this challenge! And on to the next one!

FACE it CHECK CHECK NAIL KIT 02 VINTAGE CHECK

I'm very excited to share with you a nail art kit I ordered off +Amazon.com. This amazing little kit had a long journey from Korea, but it was totally worth the wait!
The brand is called The Face Shop. They are based in Korea and have a large nail polish line. However you can't buy from their site if you live in the United States like I do. No need to worry or be sad. This is where +Amazon.com and +eBay come in handy.

I loved this kit just from the few pictures I saw online and had to have it. This awesome little kit allows you to create the plaid print seen on the box using the three nail polishes pictured below:

Included on the back are step by step picture instructions:

Exciting right? So adorable, and here are my results:

This kit really delivers! It's easy to use and gives fantastic results. I practiced the design on paper before starting and would suggest layering this print over a white base polish to really make these colors pop. The white polish used as accents to the design is not included in the kit.

What does everyone think? Is this a must own product? Would you wait three weeks for this like I did?

Polish Information Brand: The Face Shop
Colors: RD301, YL702 and Bl602

Then and Now Nail Art

A few weeks back I saw some really neat posts pop up about fellow nail bloggers sharing their "Then and Now" nail art. Such a simple idea, yet really shows yourself, and other people, how far you have come with your nail art and photography. So I searched through some of my old nail art pictures and found a manicure I thought would be perfect for this then and now theme.

Below is a manicure, that at the time, I thought was one of my best. I had just started nail art and branching out with different designs. With fun blue and white stripes and beautiful flowers, how could people not love this? Wow, was I a silly girl.

Then
Check out those amazing photography skills I possessed back then. ;) The even crazier thing is that I posted this on my tumblr on September 17th, 2011 and wondered why no one re-posted it. Baha hahahaha!

Now

Now

So much better! Amazing what good lighting, angles and focus can do! I can hardly believe I used the same Orly Gumdrop polish for both manicures. Sometimes when I do my nails I feel like I'm not going to be as good as the more popular nail art bloggers. However seeing this, I feel like I have come a long way, and look forward to seeing my skills grow even more.

Gray and Pink Flowers

Happy May everyone. Spring has hit California and I created this manicure to embrace the warm weather and pretty flowers.

Okay so maybe this manicure looks a little more like squishy starfish than flowers, but overall its a fun and happy manicure. My goal for May is to try to do more nail art that and really improve and steady my hand with nail art.

Chevrons with Essie and China Glaze

Hello all. I have a fun and happy looking nail design for you today. It's a simple chevron design that I did a little different than I usually do. Normally I have the triangle only go to the middle of the nail. Today I extended it all the way to the cuticle and I love it! I feel with the triangle being longer it gave the design a much more dramatic look. Such happy little triangles.

I'm also super late to the party and picked up Essie's Butler Please only yesterday. I was a little worried I may have a blue somewhere in my stash that was gonna be close to Butler Please. Good news, I did not! This color is beautiful and I really should have picked it up sooner. I paired Butler Please with +CHINA GLAZE It's a Trap-eze! I really love this glitter and its likeness to what indie polishes look like.

Enjoy and hope to hear feedback from you on this look!

Easter Nail Challenge - Chick Nails

I'm not gonna mention that I'm a few days behind in the Easter challenge. ;) I have such a high level of respect for girls that can keep up with the challenges. I don't even have that busy of a life, other than work and friends, and I still get behind on the blog.

I'm still running a little low on inspiration, but the challenge is still pushing me to try more nail art, so I'm thankful for that. I used my trust Google, to look at chick nails. I really liked the style of Easter nails that Minnie over at Mini Blog created. Again, my design looked better in my head, but with baby steps I'll get there.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time!

Easter Challenge - Day Three - Easter Eggs

Today's theme is Easter eggs. I loved the image used for the the challenge so that was my inspiration for my eggs.

The Easter eggs didn't turn out too bad, but I hate how my ideas always look so much better in my head. Seeing the eggs hiding in the grass makes me miss the egg hunt fun I enjoyed as a kid. I also miss baskets of candy. *drool* What were/are your favorite Easter candies or traditions?

Easter Nail Challenge - Day One: Grass/Flowers

Yay! Two posts in a row! Just teasing. Today is the start of a fun Easter Nail Challenge thought up by Corrinne over at Galactic Lacquer. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. It's obviously an Easter themed challenge and it's a short challenge so that makes it even more appealing.

I finished my attempt of hand painting the tulips last night and added the stripes this morning. I was bummed when I added my top coat because it smeared my tulips even after drying over night. And as you guys know, when I'm not super happy with the manicure I only give you one picture to look at.

Here is the rundown of the rest of the challenge and I'm happy to be moving along and seeing what other come up with.

Since I only showered one picture I've included links to some of the other entries for today.

Fun with Pastels

I've been feeling really awful about neglecting my nails and my blog. With that said I told myself to get it together and get back to what I love doing. So I re-created a simple but Spring, appropriate manicure to motivate me back into doing my nail art.

I wish I could find the original poster of this design to give her credit. They are so simple but so cute! Here is my inspiration.

Close...but I need some dotting practice ;)
